According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 71.34%, while it was 74.87% in 2016, and 77.18% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Moorthy P of DMK won in this constituency beating Gopalakrishnan R of AIADMK by a margin of 49604 votes which was 21.02% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Moorthy P of DMK was the winner in this seat beating P Pandi of AIADMK by a margin of 32772 votes which was 15.29% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Tamilarasan K of AIADMK won this seat defeating Moorthy P of DMK by a margin of 28755 votes which was 15.99% of the total votes polled for the seat.
