In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Abdul Samad P of DMK won in this constituency beating Chandrasekar R of AIADMK by a margin of 12243 votes which was 5.55% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Chandrasekar R of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Mohamed Nizam M A of IUML by a margin of 18277 votes which was 8.87% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Chandra Sekar R of AIADMK won this seat defeating Ponnusamy K of IND by a margin of 28299 votes which was 16.33% of the total votes polled for the seat.
