In 2016, Periyapullan @ Selvam P of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Ragupthy A.P of DMK by a margin of 19723 votes which was 11.43% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Samy R of AIADMK won this seat defeating Rani R of DMK by a margin of 24462 votes which was 15.88% of the total votes polled for the seat.
