In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, J Mohamed Shanavas of VCK won in this constituency beating Thanka Kathiravan of AIADMK by a margin of 7238 votes which was 5.07% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Thamimun Ansari.M of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Mohamed Jafarullah.A of MAMAK by a margin of 20550 votes which was 15.29% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, K A Jayapal of AIADMK won this seat defeating Mohamed Sheik Dawood of DMK by a margin of 5743 votes which was 4.76% of the total votes polled for the seat.
