In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Abdul Wahab M of DMK won in this constituency beating Gerald G of AIADMK by a margin of 52141 votes which was 32.7% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Mohideen Khant.P.M of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Hyder Ali S.K.A of AIADMK by a margin of 15872 votes which was 10.26% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, T.P.M.Mohideen Khan of DMK won this seat defeating V.Palani of CPIM by a margin of 605 votes which was 0.45% of the total votes polled for the seat.
