Perambalur Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Perambalur district in the Kaveri Delta region of Tamil Nadu: Veppanthattai Taluk Perambalur Taluk Kunnam Taluk (Part) Sirugavayal, Nakkaselam, Elandalapatti, T.Kalathur, Puduammapalayam, Kannapady, Thenur, Mavilingai, Naranamangalam, Nattarmangalam, Chettikulam, Irur, Padalur (West) and Padalur (East) villages.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 1081 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Perambalur is: 11°14'17.9"N 78°49'00.8"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 78.2%, while it was 80.21% in 2016, and 82.78% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Prabhaharan M of DMK won in this constituency beating Thamizhselvan R of AIADMK by a margin of 31034 votes which was 13.19% of the total votes cast. In 2016, R.Thamizhselvan of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating P.Sivakami of DMK by a margin of 6853 votes which was 3.07% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Tamizhselvan.R of AIADMK won this seat defeating Prabhaharan.M of DMK by a margin of 19079 votes which was 10.11% of the total votes polled for the seat.
