In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Ashokkumar N of DMK won in this constituency beating Thirugnanasambandam S V of AIADMK by a margin of 23503 votes which was 13.82% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Govindarasu M of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Ashok Kumar N of DMK by a margin of 995 votes which was 0.61% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, C. Arunpandian of DMDK won this seat defeating K. Mahendran of INC by a margin of 7194 votes which was 5.14% of the total votes polled for the seat.
