Extent

Sankari Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Salem district in the North region of Tamil Nadu: Sankari Taluk Omalur Taluk (Part) Illavampatti, Panikkanur, Idaiyapatti, Pappambadi, Desavilakku and Kurukkapatti villages. Tharamangalam (TP).

This constituency covers an approximate area of 479 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sankari is: 11°33'38.2"N 77°50'39.1"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 83.71%, while it was 84.06% in 2016, and 86.21% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Sundararajan of AIADMK won in this constituency beating Km Rajesh of DMK by a margin of 20045 votes which was 8.69% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Raja.S of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Rajeswaran.T.K of INC by a margin of 37374 votes which was 17.31% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Vijayalakshmi Palanisamy.P of AIADMK won this seat defeating Veerapandi S.Arumugam of DMK by a margin of 35079 votes which was 18.98% of the total votes polled for the seat.
