Sholavandan Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Madurai district in the South region of Tamil Nadu: Vadipatti Taluk Madurai North Taluk (Part) Siruvalai, Chellanagoundanpatti, Ariyur, Ambalathadi, Vittankulam, Vairavanatham, Vayalur, Sambakulam, Pillayarnatham, Moolakurichi, Thodaneri, Thenur, Samayanallur, Kallikudi, Keelanedugulam, Podumbu, Adalai, Pattakkurichchi and Kovilkurundhankulam villages.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 520 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sholavandan is: 10°04'32.2"N 78°02'15.7"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 79.49%, while it was 80.57% in 2016, and 82.7% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Venkatesan A of DMK won in this constituency beating Manickam K of AIADMK by a margin of 17045 votes which was 9.77% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Manickam K of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Bhavani.C of DMK by a margin of 24857 votes which was 14.94% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Karuppiah M V of AIADMK won this seat defeating Ilanseliyan M of PMK by a margin of 36608 votes which was 25.36% of the total votes polled for the seat.
