In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Selvaperunthagai of INC won in this constituency beating Palani of AIADMK by a margin of 10879 votes which was 4.15% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Palani.K of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Selvaperunthagai.K of INC by a margin of 10716 votes which was 4.54% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, R. Perumal of AIADMK won this seat defeating D. Yasodha of INC by a margin of 40932 votes which was 23.76% of the total votes polled for the seat.
