In 2014, Ramachandran K N of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Jagathrakshakan, S Thiru of DMK by a margin of 1,02,646 votes which was 7.98% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 42.42% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Baalu T R of DMK won this seat beating Moorthy A K of PMK by a margin of 25,036 votes which was 3.15% of the total votes polled in the constituency. DMK had a vote share of 44.41% in the seat.
