In 2016, Karunanidhi .M of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Pannerselvam .R of AIADMK by a margin of 68366 votes which was 34.74% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Karunanidhi. M of DMK won this seat defeating Rajendran. M of AIADMK by a margin of 50249 votes which was 29.02% of the total votes polled for the seat.
