In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Nainar Nagenthran of BJP won in this constituency beating Lakshmanan A L S of DMK by a margin of 23107 votes which was 11.82% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Lakshmanan A.L.S. of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Nainar Nagenthran of AIADMK by a margin of 601 votes which was 0.32% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Nainar Nageneralthran of AIADMK won this seat defeating Lakshmanan.A.L.S of DMK by a margin of 38491 votes which was 24.47% of the total votes polled for the seat.
