Uthangarai Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Krishnagiri district in the North region of Tamil Nadu: Uthangarai Taluk Pochampalli Taluk (Part) Kannandahalli, Bommepalli, Sivampatti, Nagampatti, Pichugoundanhalli, Batrahalli, Sonarahalli, Rengampatti, Kondireddipatti, Gendigampatti, Balethottam, Mookkampatti, Marappanaickanpatti, Parandapalli, Thadampatti and Jinglekadirampatti villages.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 698 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Uthangarai is: 12°17'07.8"N 78°29'31.2"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 78.37%, while it was 82.61% in 2016, and 82.14% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, T M Tamilselvam of AIADMK won in this constituency beating S Arumugam of INC by a margin of 28387 votes which was 15.19% of the total votes cast. In 2016, N.Manoranjitham of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating S.Malathy of DMK by a margin of 2613 votes which was 1.45% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Manoranjitham of AIADMK won this seat defeating Muniyammal of VCK by a margin of 39158 votes which was 25.53% of the total votes polled for the seat.
