In 2016, Sundar.K of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Ganesan.P of AIADMK by a margin of 12156 votes which was 6.12% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, P. Ganesan of AIADMK won this seat defeating Ponkumar of DMK by a margin of 13766 votes which was 8.2% of the total votes polled for the seat.
