Virudhunagar Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Virdhunagar district in the South region of Tamil Nadu: Virudhunagar Taluk (Part) Sengottai, Ellinganayakkampatti, Vadamalaikurichi, Sivagnanapuram, Pullalakkottai, Allampatti, Chatrarediapatti, Periaparali, Chinnamuppanpatti, Pelampatti, Pavali, Seeniapuram, Sengunrapuram, Moolippatti, Kavundampatti, Nattarmangalam, Kumaralingapuram, Virudhunagar, Alagapuri, Meesalur, Amathur, Vellur, Anaikkuttam, A.Meenachipuram, Melamattur, Kariseri, Ondippulinayakkanur, Thathampatti, Puliyangulam, Maruluthu, Pattampudur, Vaipputtanpatti, Kasireddiapatti, Pachakulam, V.Muthulingapuram, Chokkalingapuram, Vadi, Pudur, Thammanayakkanpatti, Vachakkarapatti, Kalangaperi and Chinnavadi villages. Rosalpatti (CT), Virudhunagar (M) and Kooraikundu (CT). Sivakasi Taluk (Part) Erichchanatham, Sevalur, Pudukkottai, Kalayarkurichi, Mangalam, Thatchakudi, Nedungulam, Purnachandrapuram and Keelathiruthangal villages.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 451 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Virudhunagar is: 9°33'27.7"N 77°52'14.9"E.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Seenivasan A R R of DMK won in this constituency beating Pandurangan G of BJP by a margin of 21339 votes which was 13.32% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Seenivasan A.R.R of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Kalanithi.K of AIADMK by a margin of 2870 votes which was 1.87% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Pandiarajan.K of DMDK won this seat defeating Armstrongnaveen.T. of INC by a margin of 21286 votes which was 15.89% of the total votes polled for the seat.
