This constituency covers an approximate area of 120 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Bagnan is: 22°27'04.3"N 87°57'45.4"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 86.37%, while it was 85.95% in 2016, and 85.58% in 2011.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Arunava Sen (Raja) of TMC won in this constituency beating Anupam Mallik of BJP by a margin of 30120 votes which was 15.18% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Arunava Sen(Raja) of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Mina Mukherjee Ghosh of CPIM by a margin of 30197 votes which was 16.7% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Arunava Sen (Raja) of TMC won this seat defeating Akkel Ali Khan of CPIM by a margin of 19270 votes which was 12.47% of the total votes polled for the seat.
