Balagarh Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Hooghly district in the South West Bengal region of West Bengal: 1. CDB Balagarh, 2. Chandrahati-I, Chandrahati-II, Digsui and Mogra-I GPs of CDB Chunchura-Mogra

This constituency covers an approximate area of 245 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Balagarh is: 23°05'58.9"N 88°24'47.9"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 84.46%, while it was 85.66% in 2016, and 88.48% in 2011.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Manoranjan Bapari of TMC won in this constituency beating Subhas Chandra Haldar of BJP by a margin of 5784 votes which was 2.67% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Ashim Kumar Majhi of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Panchu Gopal Mondal of CPIM by a margin of 17837 votes which was 8.76% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Asim Kumar Majhi of TMC won this seat defeating Bhuban Pramanick of CPIM by a margin of 21583 votes which was 11.74% of the total votes polled for the seat.
