Balarampur Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Purulia district in the South West Bengal region of West Bengal: 1. CDB Balarampur, 2. Chakaltore, Dimdiha, Durku, Garafusra, Lagda and Sonaijuri GPs CDB Purulia-I and 3. Chatu Hansa, Hensla and Puara GPs of CDB Arsha

This constituency covers an approximate area of 630 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Balarampur is: 23°14'21.8"N 86°15'33.5"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Baneswar Mahato of BJP won in this constituency beating Shantiram Mahato of TMC by a margin of 423 votes which was 0.22% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Shantiram Mahato of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Jagadish Mahato of INC by a margin of 10204 votes which was 5.84% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Shantiram Mahato of TMC won this seat defeating Gope Manindra of CPIM by a margin of 10528 votes which was 7.39% of the total votes polled for the seat.
