Chanditala Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Hooghly district in the South West Bengal region of West Bengal: 1. Bhogabatipur, Gangadharpur, Krishnarampur, Kumirmorah and Nababpur GPs of CDB Chanditala-I 2. Baksa, Barijhati, Chanditala, Dankuni, Garalgacha, Janai, Monaharpur, Mrigala and Naiti GPs of CDB Chanditala-II

This constituency covers an approximate area of 97 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Chanditala is: 22°42'47.5"N 88°13'52.7"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Swati Khandoker of TMC won in this constituency beating Debashish Dasgupta (Yash D Guptaa) of BJP by a margin of 41347 votes which was 20.17% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Swati Khandoker of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Azim Ali Md. Sk. of CPIM by a margin of 14176 votes which was 7.45% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Swati Khandoker of TMC won this seat defeating Azim Ali Md Sk of CPIM by a margin of 16920 votes which was 10.27% of the total votes polled for the seat.
