This constituency covers an approximate area of 90 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Chunchura is: 22°55'07.3"N 88°21'44.3"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Asit Mazumder (Tapan) of TMC won in this constituency beating Locket Chatterjee of BJP by a margin of 18417 votes which was 7.36% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Asit Mazumder (Tapan) of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Dr. Pranab Kumar Ghosh of AIFB by a margin of 29684 votes which was 12.29% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Asit Mazumder (Tapan) of TMC won this seat defeating Naren Dey of AIFB by a margin of 44592 votes which was 19.95% of the total votes polled for the seat.
