Dharmapur-I, Dharmapur-II, Ichapur-I, Ichapur-II, Jaleswar- I, Shimulpur and Sutia GPs of CDB Gaighata 2. Bergum-I, Bergum-II and Machhalandpur-I GPs of CDB Habra-I and 3. Gobardanga (M)

This constituency covers an approximate area of 159 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Gaighata is: 22°52'56.6"N 88°43'42.2"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Subrata Thakur of BJP won in this constituency beating Narottam Biswas of TMC by a margin of 9578 votes which was 4.52% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Pulin Bihari Ray of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Kapil Krishna Thakur of CPI by a margin of 29572 votes which was 15.33% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Manjul Krishna Thakur of TMC won this seat defeating Manoj Kanti Biswas of CPI by a margin of 25447 votes which was 15.46% of the total votes polled for the seat.
