In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Md Ghulam Rabbani of TMC won in this constituency beating Md Ghulam Sarwar of BJP by a margin of 73514 votes which was 46.08% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Md Gulam Rabbani of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Afjal Hosen of INC by a margin of 7748 votes which was 5.25% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Md. Ghulam Rabbani of INC won this seat defeating Safiur Rahaman of AIFB by a margin of 13413 votes which was 10.73% of the total votes polled for the seat.
