Howrah Dakshin Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Howrah district in the Greater Kolkata region of West Bengal: Ward Nos.-35, 38 to 41 and 44 to 46 of Howrah M. Corp. 2. Duila, Jorhat, Panchpara and Thanamakua GPs of CDB Sankrail.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 26 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Howrah Dakshin is: 22°34'36.1"N 88°15'29.2"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 73.65%, while it was 73.58% in 2016, and 76.94% in 2011.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Nandita Chowdhury of TMC won in this constituency beating Rantidev Sengupta of BJP by a margin of 50569 votes which was 23.63% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Brajamohan Majumder of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Arindam Basu (Babu) of CPIM by a margin of 16194 votes which was 8.26% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Brajamohan Majumder of TMC won this seat defeating Krishna Kisor Ray(K.K.Ray) of CPIM by a margin of 31422 votes which was 17.43% of the total votes polled for the seat.
