This constituency covers an approximate area of 6 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Howrah Madhya is: 22°34'11.3"N 88°19'04.8"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Arup Roy S/O Late Prabhat Roy of TMC won in this constituency beating Sanjay Singh of BJP by a margin of 46547 votes which was 24.19% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Arup Roy (Apu) of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Amitabha Dutta of JDU by a margin of 52994 votes which was 30.13% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Arup Roy(Apu) of TMC won this seat defeating Arup Ray(Tukun) of CPIM by a margin of 50670 votes which was 30.48% of the total votes polled for the seat.
