This constituency covers an approximate area of 208 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Jangipara is: 22°44'18.6"N 88°05'28.0"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Snehasis Chakraborty of TMC won in this constituency beating Debjit Sarkar of BJP by a margin of 17926 votes which was 8.64% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Snehasis Chakraborty of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Pobitra Singha Roy of CPIM by a margin of 23605 votes which was 12.07% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Snehasis Chakraborty of TMC won this seat defeating Sudarsan Raychaudhuri of CPIM by a margin of 13076 votes which was 7.58% of the total votes polled for the seat.
