In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Jakir Hossain of TMC won in this constituency beating Sujit Das of BJP by a margin of 92480 votes which was 36.26% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Jakir Hossain of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Somnath Singha Ray of CPIM by a margin of 20633 votes which was 11.49% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Md. Sohrab of INC won this seat defeating Purnima Bhattacharya of CPIM by a margin of 6336 votes which was 4.31% of the total votes polled for the seat.
