This constituency covers an approximate area of 553 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Jhargram is: 22°28'48.7"N 87°00'34.6"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Birbaha Hansda of TMC won in this constituency beating Sukhamay Satpathy of BJP by a margin of 38240 votes which was 19.3% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Sukumar Hansda of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Chunibala Hansda of JKPN by a margin of 55228 votes which was 30.59% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Sukumar Hansda of TMC won this seat defeating Amar Basu of CPIM by a margin of 15273 votes which was 9.82% of the total votes polled for the seat.
