Kalyani Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Nadia district in the South East Bengal region of West Bengal: 1. Chanduria-II, Kanchrapara, Madanpur-I, Madanpur-II, Saguna, Sarati and Simurali GPs of CDB Chakdaha 2. Kalyani Municipality and 3. Gayespur Municipality

This constituency covers an approximate area of 139 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Kalyani is: 23°00'10.4"N 88°28'35.0"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 84.39%, while it was 81.81% in 2016, and 90.17% in 2011.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Ambika Roy of BJP won in this constituency beating Aniruddha Biswas of TMC by a margin of 2206 votes which was 1.01% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Dr. Ramendra Nath Biswas of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Alakesh Das of CPIM by a margin of 26095 votes which was 13.75% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Dr. Ramendra Nath Biswas of TMC won this seat defeating Jyotsna Sarkar (Sikder) of CPIM by a margin of 15690 votes which was 8.76% of the total votes polled for the seat.
