This constituency covers an approximate area of 281 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Patashpur is: 22°00'29.5"N 87°33'21.2"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Uttam Barik of TMC won in this constituency beating Ambujaksha Mahanti of BJP by a margin of 9994 votes which was 4.81% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Jyotirmoy Kar of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Makhanlal Nayak of CPI by a margin of 29888 votes which was 15.73% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Jyotirmoy Kar of TMC won this seat defeating Makhan Lal Nayak of CPI by a margin of 6650 votes which was 3.93% of the total votes polled for the seat.
