This constituency covers an approximate area of 137 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Raiganj is: 25°36'15.5"N 88°05'42.0"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Krishna Kalyani of BJP won in this constituency beating Kanaia Lal Agarwal of TMC by a margin of 20748 votes which was 13.06% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Mohit Sengupta of INC was the winner in this seat beating Purnendu Dey (Bablu) of TMC by a margin of 51247 votes which was 34.36% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Mohit Sengupta of INC won this seat defeating Kiranmay Nanda of SP by a margin of 5409 votes which was 4.28% of the total votes polled for the seat.
