This constituency covers an approximate area of 375 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabang is: 22°10'50.5"N 87°36'37.1"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 88.03%, while it was 88.72% in 2016, and 93.34% in 2011.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Manas Ranjan Bhunia of TMC won in this constituency beating Amulya Maity of BJP by a margin of 9864 votes which was 4.2% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Manas Ranjan Bhunia of INC was the winner in this seat beating Nirmal Ghosh of TMC by a margin of 49167 votes which was 22.93% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Manas Ranjan Bhunia of INC won this seat defeating Rampada Sahoo of CPIM by a margin of 13184 votes which was 6.84% of the total votes polled for the seat.
