Shibpur Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Howrah district in the Greater Kolkata region of West Bengal: 1. Ward Nos.-8, 9, 21 to 23, 43 and 47 to 50 of Howrah M. Corp.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 13 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Shibpur is: 22°35'50.3"N 88°17'48.1"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Manoj Tiwary of TMC won in this constituency beating Rathin Chakrabarty of BJP by a margin of 32603 votes which was 18.08% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Jatu Lahiri of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Jagannath Bhattacharyya of AIFB by a margin of 27014 votes which was 15.91% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Jatu Lahiri of TMC won this seat defeating Jagannath Bhattacharyya of AIFB by a margin of 46404 votes which was 28.48% of the total votes polled for the seat.
