This constituency covers an approximate area of 228 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Swarupnagar is: 22°49'26.4"N 88°52'37.2"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Bina Mondal of TMC won in this constituency beating Brindaban Sarkar of BJP by a margin of 34800 votes which was 16.53% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Bina Mandal of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Dhiman Sarkar of CPIM by a margin of 11941 votes which was 6.18% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Bina Mondal of TMC won this seat defeating Siva Pada Das of CPIM by a margin of 7414 votes which was 4.34% of the total votes polled for the seat.
