Tamluk Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Purba Medinipur district in the South West Bengal region of West Bengal: 1. CDB Sahid Matangini, 2. Tamluk (M), 3. Bishnubarh-II, Pipulberia-I, Pipulberia-II and Uttar Sonamui GPs of CDB Tamluk

This constituency covers an approximate area of 159 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Tamluk is: 22°20'33.7"N 87°54'11.5"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 87.87%, while it was 87.85% in 2016, and 90.3% in 2011.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Saumen Kumar Mahapatra of TMC won in this constituency beating Hare Krishna Bera of BJP by a margin of 793 votes which was 0.34% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Ashok Dinda of CPI was the winner in this seat beating Nirbed Ray of TMC by a margin of 520 votes which was 0.24% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Saumen Kumar Mahapatra of TMC won this seat defeating Jagannath Mitra of CPI by a margin of 20676 votes which was 10.95% of the total votes polled for the seat.
