This constituency covers an approximate area of 487.22 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 21°30'58.0"N 80°12'57.2"E.

A total of two Assembly constituencies in the state of Maharashtra share borders with Gondiya constituency, which are: Tirora, Amgaon. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh.

In 2014, Agrawal Gopaldas Shankarlal of INC was the winner in this seat beating Agrawal Vinodkumar of BJP by a margin of 10,758 votes which was 5.49% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Agrawal Gopaldas Shankarlal of INC won this seat defeating Kuthe Rameshkumar Sampatrao of SS by a margin of 9,971 votes which was 6.11% of the total votes polled for the seat.
