Chiplun comprises of the following areas of Ratnagiri district in the Konkan region of Maharashtra: Chiplun Tehsil (Part) Revenue Circle Kalkavane, Shirgaon, Savarde, Chiplun and Chiplun (MC), Sangameshwar Tehsil (Part) Revenue Circle, Makhajan, Kadvai, Phansavane, Vashi Tarfe, Sangameshwar, Devrukh, Angavali.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 1606.19 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 17°16'59.9"N 73°36'33.8"E.

In 2014, Chavan Sadanand Narayan of SS was the winner in this seat beating Shekhar Govindrao Nikam of NCP by a margin of 6,068 votes which was 3.62% of the total votes polled in the constituency.
