Vinesh Phogat

Congress candidate from Haryana's Julana assembly seat Vinesh Phogat is a prominent Indian wrestler. Her uncle, Mahavir Singh Phogat, a respected coach and a Dronacharya Awardee, introduced her to the sport. Vinesh is a multiple gold medalist at the Commonwealth Games. She's also an Asian Games and Asian Championships gold medalist and won two bronze medals at the World Championships. Vinesh announced her retirement from the sport after her disqualification from the gold medal bout at the 2024 Paris Olympics for being 100 g overweight. Shortly after returning to the country, she joined the Congress.
