In 2016, Md. Mottakin Alam of INC was the winner in this seat beating Sabitri Mitra of TMC by a margin of 12603 votes which was 7.3% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Sabitri Mitra of TMC won this seat defeating Ratna Bhattacharya of CPIM by a margin of 6217 votes which was 4.44% of the total votes polled for the seat.
